Abuse
According to Statistics Canada, over 40% of the population experienced emotional abuse or neglect at some point during their upbringing. The scariest reality to face is that emotional abuse is just one way that someone can become a victim of abuse. Whether there are visible scars or emotional traumas, please know that you are not alone.
There are different phases in every relationship. Love becomes easy to feel, life seems to be viewed through rose-coloured glasses, and you get the sense that everything will be okay. Then slowly, you feel more irritated by your counterpart and everything feels like the end of the world. It is normal for emotions to vary. What makes the cycle of abuse different is how similar it is every time, and the feelings that lie underneath the actions.
Boundaries
The Boundaries that you set impact every aspect of your life. From something as simple as what you enjoy eating for breakfast to the way you ask people to address you. Boundaries are very important because they define how your life looks, how people treat you, and when you decide to say “no.” North Aster is a strong believer in teaching boundaries as early and often as possible, so that you may have the opportunity to take your life into your hands.
A.C.E. (Adverse Childhood Experiences)
The Adverse Childhood Experience (ACE) Test measures the likelihood of someone experiencing chronic stress and traumatic responses, based on how high an individual scores. The test asks 10 non-specific questions about your childhood. For more information, statistics based on ACE scores, and to take the quiz, click the link below.
Cycle Of Addiction
As difficult as it is to identify themes in addiction, it is equally important to try. This insight provides a rational, tangible framework to input the path we walk, the distance and depth we have come, and the impact of addiction.
Questions arise as the cycle passes from one circle to the other, and many emotions may manifest as a response.
